Our contribution

The SkiArena restaurant manager contacted us at the end of November 2014 with an urgent request for a tipi as a gastro tent. They were looking for a room extension for their lunch room. For the winter season, the tipi should be at around 2 meters above sea level. stand at the Andermatt - Gurschen middle station.

We offered them an 8m tipi from the robust Tent fabric «Premium» with delivery and assembly. It's the same size that we use for the Camping Morteratsch had built. Experience has shown that a potlachtipi is suitable as a good gastro tent.

At the Andermatt valley station we had to reload the 10m long poles onto the cable car in order to then transport them up with underload. For this, however, the rail service would have to be interrupted. Unfortunately on this rather sunny day there was quite a rush of guests and the railway workers had to load the bars into the cabin together with the guests. In the middle station, the snow was removed down to 10 cm with a snow plow so that we could later hammer the pegs into the ground.

The whole setup was delayed by a few hours due to these circumstances, but it was worth the effort. We had perfect conditions, slightly cloudy and no wind and thanks to our hard-working and strong helpers, the tipi was perfect after 2 hours!

The project SkiArena Andermatt-Sedrun

Andermatt Swiss Alps AG is currently building a tourism resort in Andermatt with several hotels, holiday apartments, holiday homes, leisure facilities and a golf course. In addition to these structural developments in the village of Andermatt, the existing facilities for ski tourism also had to be renewed and expanded. With the planned expansion, the aim was to be able to offer sustainable tourism in this region.

For this expansion, the two mountain railways, Andermatt Gotthard Sportbahn AG and Sedrun Bergbahnen AG, were merged under the umbrella of Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG. In the summer of 2014, the construction of the first facilities between Andermatt and Sedrun began. The technical ski connection is expected to be completed in winter 2016/2017.
